Aimee Campbell our FND Awareness Ambassador who hails from Co. Louth, along side her consultant Professor Siobhan MacHale from Beaumont hospital and our founder Eamon McPartlin, were delighted to be invited to Louth Civil Defence headquarters in Dundalk to present an information session on Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
The event kicked off with a presentation from Professor Siobhan MacHale explaining what is FND and how its symptoms can present in the brain and body. Eamon gave a brief introduction to FND Ireland and noted the many challenges faced by those living with FND in Ireland. Aimee outlined her own our journey with FND, and highlighted how functional seizures are different from epileptic seizures and how awareness of this with first responders is so important. Many thanks to Aimee and Chris Connolly, Officer at Louth Civil Defence for organising this event.
